Assessments

Psycho-educational assessments

The psycho-educational assessment measures the learner’s current level of cognitive functioning as well as academic performance (reading, spelling and mathematical skills). Challenges relating to learning, neurological functioning, attention and concentration and the need for accommodations may be identified in this assessment.

School Readiness screening or assessments

School readiness is the extent to which children are ready to learn what is taught in the formal classroom. Foundations of school readiness include the sensory systems, sensory-motor development, perceptual-motor, and socio-emotional development.

Psycho-legal and Forensic Assessments

  • Divorce or Separation Disputes relating to children. These can include but are not limited to contact (visitation rights), care (rights and responsibilities of parents), residency (primary and secondary residence) and parental alienation.
  • Allegations of sexual abuse
  • Voice of the child Assessments

GDE and IEB Accommodations

  • Longer time in exams
  • Scribe and/or Reader
  • Use of a planning aid
  • Use of Dictaphones
  • Larger printed exam papers

Socio-emotional assessment

This assessment aims to determine the child’s perception of themselves, their world, family, and friends.

Career Guidance & Subject choice

  • Guidance to assist an individual to determine which type of career would be most suitable for them in terms of their aptitude, personality, temperament and interests.
  • What subjects an individual can consider and would be best for them
